What We Need

Codeword is looking for a Vice President, a PR pro with at least 7 years of experience who can work with the senior executive team to build the business, help shape our future as well as handle clients and secure media coverage. The ideal candidate will also work directly with junior staff as a mentor and mentor them and build them up. As a member of our executive team this person will play an essential role in the business. This position is based out of the Salt Lake City office, and can work remotely until our physical offices reopen or stay remote if they so desire.

What you'll be doing at WE

The Vice President will help pitch and create new business and  manage and execute PR campaigns across multiple industries with media, influencers, and consumers on behalf of our clients. This position will be responsible for a significant amount of revenue and client business. This includes partnering with clients to define and evolve the future of our ongoing storytelling program, including alignment to the broader communications, and marketing efforts. The VP is responsible for day-to-day client management and satisfaction, serving as the point of strategic integration and counsel for the team. This position will manage, plan, and execute on earned and owned media programs.

What you've been able to accomplish

This is a commercial and board-level point of contact who ensures Codeword meets client expectations and that clients feel strategic leadership with consistent, meaningful communication on the value of the work Codeword does. This role deepens client relationships, as well as seeking and forming relationships with new prospective clients.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications or similar applicable field is required
  • Minimum of 7 years of tech (B2B and/or B2C) PR experience required, agency experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven success in media relations, client retention, and organic growth preferred.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to multitask, stay organized and lead a team to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess direct and professional communication skills to help motivate junior and mid-level team members.
  • Track record of building deep, broad agency and client relationships.
  • Experience working cross team, function or office or with colleagues in multiple locations
  • Has go-to relationships across a variety of press verticals, not limited to tech, business and consumer press.
  • Team-oriented attitude with a willingness to roll up sleeves and pitch in wherever needed
  • Creativity and integrity, we are a creative communications agency, after all
  • Ability to be strategic and work well under pressure
  • Startup experience is a major plus, or you’re just super comfortable with a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Be a problem-solver that asks the right questions, finds the answers out themselves, and then presents the problem with some recommended solutions.
  • Experience with disciplines outside of media relations, such as affiliate marketing, social media and digital strategy, content marketing, and brand strategy.
