What We Need

Codeword is looking for a Strategist who will be responsible for turning social media, digital advertising, search, and web analytics data into insights that inform our clients about their omnichannel marketing activities. This role will utilize leading industry and proprietary agency KPIs for the analysis of social media, digital advertising, search, and web initiatives. The Strategist will provide commentary on performance trends and insights-driven recommendations to make our clients’ omnichannel campaigns a success.

What you'll be doing

  • Under general team guidance, develop insights that are compelling, actionable, and statistically rigorous, identifying trends, anomalies, and data gaps.
  • Responsible for executing social media/advertising/web/search analytics strategy, analytical framework, and consulting for our internal teams, partners, and clients.
  • Responsible for developing visuals/infographics that convey a succinct message for presentations and other internal or client communications.
  • Analyze performance data and make recommendations to optimize major KPIs.
  • Provide future-forward forecasting on upcoming campaigns and initiatives to set internal teams’ and clients’ expectations and goals for future performance. 
  • Report and analyze the performance of online marketing activities, such as paid advertising, owned social activity, email, and other digital marketing initiatives.
  • Utilize Adobe Analytics/Google Analytics to report on ROI of marketing campaigns and enhance customer experience.
  • Understand web analytics tagging and how the data is collected - to identify potential issues and elevate them to the client or the technical team.
  • Understand the principles and mechanisms of A/B testing to provide timely recommendations on creative and other tactical iterations for digital marketing initiatives.
  • Consult with teammates on how to best leverage analytics to inform digital marketing decisions and optimize recommendations for marketing activities.
  • Stay informed about clients’ key lines of business including their technologies, products, target markets, and competitors. 
  • Provide strategic digital intelligence on our clients’ competitors’ digital marketing initiatives and consult on how our clients can effectively compete in the digital space. 
  • Work collaboratively with Insight & Analytics, Account, Strategy, and Creative teams, as well as partners to respond to client requests and support assigned projects.
  • Work closely with the Insights & Analytics leaders to educate internal cross-client teams on industry-leading best practices to further elevate the quality and breadth of the agency offering. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you've been able to accomplish

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (Business Administration, Marketing, Statistics, Economics, Research), or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of marketing data analysis, statistical or marketing research experience is required.
  • 2+ years of experience in digital analytics is required.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a client-facing role (either internally or externally).
  • Knowledgeable in digital analytics with top social media and other digital platforms, including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Linkedin, Snapchat, Pinterest, TikTok, as well as their advertising manager environments.  
  • Solid knowledge of email marketing, marketing automation, social listening platforms, and the respective industry KPIs is required.
  • Solid understanding of SemRush, Screaming Frog, Adwords, and/or their alternatives in SEO and Search practice is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (particularly PowerPoint and Excel). 
  • Proven experience with Tableau/Power BI or other visualization tools.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL, R, or Python, or an ability to perform a broad range of web-scraping exercises is preferred.


Additional Requirements:

  • Experience in using data to problem solve, make decisions, and answer business questions;
  • Ability to ask the right questions to understand the business problem and identify the measurement or research objective;
  • Proven written and verbal presentation skills and ability to translate complex data into a compelling story;
  • Experience working globally or with colleagues in multiple locations using videoconferencing technology;
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities in a time-sensitive environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies, tools, and platforms;
  • Client and business environment, customer service orientation is a must. 
  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week on occasion; ability to travel
  • Strong communication and consulting skills across all levels of an organization, strong presentation skills, and the ability to communicate with non-technical audiences
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
