What We Need

WE Communications is looking for a Senior Vice President, who will primarily be responsible for providing senior leadership to support Sustainability account work for a Fortune 50 technology leader in this space.


Our Senior Vice President will create, manage, and execute dynamic and timely public affairs, ESG and issue based PR campaigns with media, influencers, and consumers on behalf of our clients. This position will be responsible for a significant component of the communications program targeting influential audiences and driving innovative and cutting edge thought leadership in the ESG space. This includes partnering with clients and partners to define and evolve the future of our ongoing storytelling program, including alignment to the broader communications, and marketing efforts.


The Senior Vice Presidents at WE are responsible for overall client management and satisfaction, serving as the point of strategic integration and counsel for the team. The SVP will report to the EVP of the sector and President of our agency team. This role will partner with executive leaders to navigate complex business environments and strategically counsel major clients. This position will provide client and business management counsel, serve as a senior leadership team member to set direction and collaborate effectively across the consumer and technology sector while overseeing a team across multiple offices including specific teams.

What you'll be doing

  • In partnership with several other executives to build out ESG capabilities.
  • Accountable for multiple accounts serving as an owner, communications adviser, and strategist to senior executives leveraging expertise in executive communications, storytelling and broadcast to drive story ideas and input to accounts.
  • Lead/own projects that demonstrate strategic planning and creative thinking as well as drive news for program initiatives or events
  • Develop and oversee message development, communications plans and media pitches
  • Continue to own and manage specific teams, driving strategy and overseeing business plan execution and delivery of measurable results.
  • Drive client management and satisfaction across programs, storytelling programs across channels – paid, earned, owned, and share out point of view on influence.
  • Cultivate relationships with a range of influencers, from media to advocacy groups and develop a strong understanding of the landscape and a unique point of view regarding how clients can best engage these audiences.
  • Creating and sustaining strong collaboration and integration with agency leaders including other technology sector leads and across the market. 
  • Pursue and coordinate cross-account/practice and global business opportunities.
  • Grow, manage, and maintain client relationships with key, senior level media/influencers; proactively engage on issues.
  • Solicit and share feedback/perception from media and influencers regarding client(s) competition and position in the industry
  • Provide strategic and tactical counsel to executive level clients; partner with clients to establish the strategic direction for account
  • Lead preparation and delivery of organic growth or new business proposal content and in person pitch meetings
  • Contribute to agency strategic planning initiatives
  • Develop budget/utilization management and resourcing skills
  • Oversee resource allocation across team including staffing, hiring, and onboarding new talent
  • Manage career development and performance of direct reports, managing up to senior staff on crisis issues, and client/team satisfaction while holding the team accountable to demonstrating agency values
  • Other duties as assigned.


What you've been able to accomplish

  • Bachelors degree in a Technology Discipline, Communications, Business Administration or similar applicable field is required; Master’s degree is highly preferred.
  • 15+ years of Communications experience required.
  • Minimum of 10-12 years’ experience in Technology communications or related area of expertise; with at least 5+ years leading teams preferred.
  • Previous experience with financial models and P&L or budget responsibility.
  • Previous experience working in a highly collaborative, diplomatic, influential and persuasive environment; Ability to be a magnet for clients, partners, employees.
  • Proven ability to attract, inspire, develop and lead other senior leaders. Track record for building lasting teams that are highly skilled and have staying power. 


Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with energy and environment focused media
  • Experience manafing ESG issues for clients
  • Deep understaning of sustainability issues and landscape
  • High level of analysis and strategic recommendations based on industry knowledge
  • High level of initiative; take accountability for role on projects
  • Demonstrated creative and strategic mindset
  • Has established editor and/or analyst relationships and has pro-actively placed stories
  • Directed presentations to groups of all sizes and led new business pitches
  • Experience developing a team from the ground up
  • Client and business environment:  Customer service orientation is a must. 
  • Job pressure may exist from requirement of handling multiple tasks
  • Fast-paced team environment (frequent tight deadlines, multitasking, etc.)
  • Strong presentation and consulting skills along with the ability to read, write and speak English
  • Must need to work more than 40 hours per week on occasion
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • High travel requirements and ability to be in market frequently, up to 40Understanding of environment and sustainability issues
  • Solid organizational and leadership skills
  • Self-motivated and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Possess exceptional communications skills.
  • Client and business environment, Customer service orientation is a must. Job pressure may exist.
  • Experience working globally and with colleagues in multiple locations
  • Strong presentation and consulting skills along with the ability to read, write and speak English
