We are looking for a Senior Vice President / Vice President to join our team in Austin. The ideal candidate is a seasoned communicator who thrives in an environment where passion, creativity and curiosity are valued. You have experience managing large accounts, excellent relationships with business and technology journalists and influencers, and a special place in his/her heart for technology (and how technology intersects with the broader market…from consumers to healthcare and beyond).

You have a passion for client service, staff development and the wide world of influence, as well as a keen interest in relationship building, in audience and in measuring results.

 Client and Business Management

  • Develop and implement a strategic corporate communications plan to advance the client’s brand identity, broaden awareness of its programs and priorities and increase the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences
  • Act as an effective advisor to senior clients and develops long term partnerships effectively communicating recommendations and insights to advance their business
  • Foster on-going, valuable relationships with key media and influencers, serving as a critical connection between industry thoughts leaders and client stakeholders
  • Stay ahead of the trends in how businesses communicate in multiple commercial environments and advising clients on where they need to focus their resources selling into enterprise clients
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of enterprise customers, B2B environments, and cloud computing. Includes understanding of the enterprise, developer, and IT audiences
  • Integrate corporate communications strategy with wide range of communications channels and infuse insights gathered via corporate program in larger communications efforts
  • Work collaboratively across sectors – leading in Technology but representing people and staff across Healthcare, Consumer, Services and Operations.

 Agency and Team Leadership

  • Oversee a team anchored in the Austin office and with key team leaders in other offices that provides high-quality integrated communications services; sustaining the agency's growth by attracting and developing people through coaching, mentoring, and active team and Austin office leadership
  • Contribute to the expansion of WE's Austin technology and corporate communications offerings and opportunities, actively representing WE in the Austin market
  • Collaborate and partner with other business leads to integrate & drive best results
  • Lead by influence and opportunity, rather than by command and control – build cross-functional teams to meet client and market demands, integrate with Sector and Service leads and teams

 Business Development

    • Champions WE in the Austin market, evangelizing our presence, leadership and vision. Helps WE increase relevance and top-of-mind place in Austin technology and communications circles.
    • Generates, pursues, and secures new business opportunities across sectors in alignment with NA client growth strategies
    • Seeks out and develops organic growth opportunities within existing accounts and aids other local teammates in identifying new revenue streams in their accounts


  • Demonstrated extensive, strong campaign experience on behalf of major brands. Showcased broad reaching and expansive approaches that provide clear business impact.
  • Highly networked and respected within the communications industry. Active on social platforms and able to use profile for business impact.
  • High working knowledge of Creative, Content, Social, Digital, Research and Data & Analytics across the technology communications spectrum
  • A sense of urgency, the ability to deal with ambiguous situations, a strategic view but also willing to roll up your sleeves and dig in to the work to drive impact
  • Deep understanding of wide range of communications channels, tools, and vehicles spanning paid, owned, and earned platforms including social platforms
  • Talented at influencing and leading people and teams; highly motivated, team builder. Able to effectively lead and manage teams, build client relationships, across multiple time zones.
  • Established strong relationships, high bandwidth communicator with excellent collaboration abilities with other sector leads, regional leads and team members.
  • Problem solving versus problem identification mentality, able to build and implement solutions.
  • Diplomatic, high influencing capability, persuasive approach to change. Brings others along.



  • 10+ years experience in field of communications including 5+ years’ experience leading a practice or sector area.
  • At least 10 years' experience in technology communications or related area of expertise; recognized thought leader in the industry. Strong POV on where the industry is going.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, business Administration or similar applicable field is preferred
  • Deep understanding of financial models, agency metrics for success, ability to evaluate business opportunities through a strong financial lens. Previous experience with high-level decision making in all aspects of business management, client relationships, etc.
  • Previous experience working in multiple regions and deep relationships with a variety of stakeholders to draw on; ability to adapt to and operate with cultural nuance depending on the circumstances. Ability to be a magnet for clients, partners, employees.
  • Proven ability to attract, develop and retain strong leaders and scale efforts through a team. Track record for building lasting teams that are highly skilled and have staying power.


  • Fast-paced team environment (frequent tight deadlines, multitasking, etc.)
  • Open office environment with a diverse team (flat structure).
  • High travel requirements and ability to be in market frequently.
  • Experience working globally or with colleagues in multiple locations, ability to travel up to 25%
