Us too! We’re looking for someone to team up with our Custom Content Editor and our impressive crew of communications and storytelling specialists to forge the future — and present — of content. Mind you, this role isn’t for just anyone. You need to be curious, clever, continually intrigued by the “what if?” that separates the quotidian from the superlative. A good content brief brings joy to your heart, which takes nothing away from how much a sturdy workback schedule soothes your soul. You can pivot from aviation to AI to government affairs or philanthropic giving on a dime, and are expert at working seamlessly with client-side writers as well as freelancers, vendors and agency colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Research, interview, write, rewrite, edit, copyedit and/or proofread (based on project need) various types of journalistic, branded and/or sponsored content on a wide range of topics
  • Participate in newsroom/editorial meetings to plan, brainstorm and assign ownership of stories for internal and external newsrooms and other channels
  • Collaborate in editorial meeting with global regional (EMEA and APAC) communications teams to plan for and support regional content needs
  • Apply editorial and strategic guidance. Provide and/or incorporate editorial and client feedback to meet audience needs and project objectives; and otherwise ensure content deliverables meet style, brand, quality, tone/voice and project requirements
  • Conduct or participate in project meetings and interviews; provide editorial review; and/or otherwise ensure final content aligns with client needs and audience interests
  • Commission and oversee freelance writers and content creation
  • Conduct research and/or study provided materials to make content approach recommendations
  • Shape content briefs and ensure work back schedules are adhered to
  • Apply a keen eye for story to connect the specificity of individual content pieces to broader themes, ideas and strategie
  • Provide a high level of professional service to customers by educating them about good writing and proactively offering guidance on the most effective writing processes
  • Other job duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or applicable field is required.
  • 8-10+ years’ of Journalism, writing, editing, copyediting and/or commissioning journalistic, branded and/or sponsored content
  • Exceptional writing, editorial and proofreading skills, and deftness enforcing the style, tone and voice appropriate to any given project
  • In depth knowledge relating to the area of focus and a drive to stay fresh on outlooks and trends in tech’s intersection with healthcare, social-good and consumer companies
  • Familiarity with the rhythms and tools of a digital newsroom
  • Experience overseeing the work of other writers to deliver top-quality drafts and final assets that meet project, budget and client expectations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (particularly Outlook, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Excel) and familiarity with WordPress, Type Pad or Live Writer, and/or other CMSs.

  • Ability to work independently with clients to deliver expected results
  • Exceptional internal/external feature, video script, blog, social content and executive (ghost) writing skills
  • Ability to deliver a steady flow of high-quality drafts under short deadlines
  • Ability to meet tight and frequent deadlines, while having the adaptability for changing priorities
  • Client and business environment: Customer service orientation is a must. Job pressure may exist from requirement of handling multiple tasks
  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week on occasion
  • Experience working globally or with colleagues in multiple locations, Ability to travel
  • Strong presentation and communication skills along with the ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
