Our Client Services Accountant II will proactively manage various aspects of the agency billing and revenue recognition function and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data in the accounting system. This role will assist with setting up customers, monitoring and processing cash receipts, monthly reporting at the client level, invoicing, aged receivables and various monthly account reconciliations as assigned by CSA Manager. Administration, review and reconciliation of billing and revenue related accounts, general ledger account review and coding/booking of journal entries.

This role will work side by side with PR team leads to proactively-manage client budgets, and will work towards the skillset of explaining complex budget and accounting information to non-accounting professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the Client’s business, financial priorities, budget cycle and contractual requirements. Set up customers in ERP system to align with contractual agreements in place.
  • Processing recurring and one time billing cycles, generating invoices in compliance with terms of the commercial agreement and delivery to customers or third party service providers.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with Client account teams and key client counterparts. Collaborate with Client account teams to analyze monthly results to ensure accurate monthly revenue recognition, monitoring budget versus actual spend, providing ad hoc and monthly financial reporting and analysis, and flagging potential issues to management.
  • Monitor the progress of aged receivables and collections efforts, escalate items as required based on aged receivable guidelines set internally.
  • Handles the processing of incoming payments, invoicing clients, and ongoing account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.   
  • Demonstrate the ability to assist with month-end tasks including revenue recognition review, prepare and post journal entries, completion of account reconciliations and the transactional close.
  • Ongoing maintenance of Intercompany processes, including invoicing and reconciliation.
  • Training with peers on client billing processes and training of new employees. Provide back up when members are out.  Ability to perform general process documentation.
  • Work closely with Client Service Accounting Manager on developing best practices within the role.  Maintain process manuals on specific processes/procedures.  Challenge the status quo, seeking process improvements and efficiency within the client service function.
  • Assist with ad hoc client reporting requests, client and agency audit requirements. 
  • Other job duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Accounting or Finance degree with accounting experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in general accounting, demonstrating progressive responsibility.
  • Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, including revenue recognition criteria.
  • Working knowledge of accounting application software (WE currently uses MS Dynamics).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (particularly Outlook, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Excel).
