WE Buchan, one of the world’s largest independent integrated communications agencies, is looking for a driven social media specialist to join our Digital and Social team in Sydney.

We are currently looking for a first-class social media aficionado to oversee the creation and implementation of innovative and engaging multi-platform social campaigns – watching your ideas and strategies come to life with a team of brilliant communicators at your side.


We need an Einstein, someone with #goals (squad or otherwise), a flair for the creative, and an analytical mind. Partnership is the name of the game – you’ll work with internal teams and clients to develop programs that inspire, as well as keep them humming along to plan.


Together with the Head of Digital and Social, you’ll create and deliver award-winning campaigns from briefs that come in from our varied portfolio of clients, with a particular focus on Consumer, Technology and Healthcare.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic social and paid media plans, and embed in account team projects as assigned.
  • Partner with account and creative teams on the implementation of integrated digital communications campaigns.
  • Provide ongoing strategic and tactical counsel to clients that maps to their specific business challenges.
  • Serve as primary day-to-day contact with clients/internal teams and proactively engage on issues.
  • Manage the social media presence for brands across consumer and technology industries, and engage in their online communities.
  • Develop and drive strategic content and channel recommendations based on key audience insight, digital media consumption habits, and digital trends.
  • Execute paid social and content campaigns from set up, execution, management, optimisations, and reporting.
  • Review and analyse data, platform native insights and social ad managers in order to identify new opportunities and optimise current programs.
  • Grow and maintain internal and client relationships.
  • Be heavily involved in new business, developing strategies and programs that meet objectives.
  • Share POV, knowledge, and experience across the team through presentations, brown bag sessions and agency training and development courses.
  • Stay on top of new and emerging trends across the digital landscape.



  • 3-5 years’ experience in digital/content/social team at PR, digital or ad agency
  • Understands the role and value of digital and social media in earned, owned and paid.
  • Experienced with leading campaigns and plans across social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Have experiencing implementing and executing paid media campaigns using Ads Manager, Twitter Ads and LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish strong client relationships and client service management.
  • Previous new business and pitch experience is highly desirable
  • Previous experience in search a plus.
  • Previous experience in scoping out programs and budgeting a plus.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work across multiple projects, operate in a team environment, and meet deadlines appropriately.
  • Experience with a wide range of social platforms such as HootSuite, Sprout, Sprinklr, Spredfast.
  • Have a working knowledge of digital tracking and measurement technologies such as Brandwatch, LexisNexis, Crimson Hexagon and Omniture.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Understands the role and value of owned and paid social media within the broader digital marketing landscape.
  • High level of initiative.
  • Client and business environment: client service orientation is a must. 
  • Fast-paced team environment (frequent tight deadlines, multitasking, etc.)
  • Strong presentation and consulting skills along with the ability to read, write and speak English
