You are a leader with a startup mentality, passionate about the role communications can play in shaping the voice of leading tech brands. The ability to counsel clients through insights, data and creativity across geographies comes natural to you. Leading, collaborating and growing teams is second nature. In addition to client development and management, the SVP will be responsible for collaborating with business development to drive growth in the North America Technology Sector. The SVP interacts internally and externally with executive-level management, requiring heavy collaboration, strategic counsel and more. This includes being a member of the technology leadership team as well as partnership with a cross section of agency services, sectors and regions to drive growth. Client management includes the retention and growth of existing accounts and development of new services and capabilities that set the agency apart competitively. This role will report to the President of Client Development at the agency.


Job Functions:


Client Service

  • Establishes, grows and sustains client relationships at the chief marketing officer and chief communications officer levels; accountable for multi-million dollar accounts (as new accounts are won).
  • Champions fresh ideas and influences clients on innovative communication strategies that drive impact - Ahead of the trends in how businesses communicate and the overall technology industry
  • Architects the communications vision in partnership with clients; driving strategy and overseeing business plan execution and delivery of measurable results
  • Established relationships with range of influencers, from media, developers and analysts to enthusiasts


Business Development

  • Drive business growth for the Technology Sector P&L
  • Partner with agency leadership and business development to pursue new business opportunities, including proactive, RFIs, pitches, and scopes; ensures integration of additional resources, as needed, into major account business development opportunities as well as RFPs
  • Provides timely strategic POVs on audience/channel/marketplace trends, to support new business opportunities, and generally to advance our collective work.
  • Drives new growth while leveraging the ability to see beyond explicit assignments to identify broader, longer-term growth opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Established relationships in the tech industry – brings these relationships to the agency to help drive growth. 
  • Help oversee tech sector strategy POVs through externally published articles and participation in external events


Agency and Team Leadership

  • Operates as a senior and visible leader in the agency, embodying agency values and inspiring those around them.
  • Serving on Senior Leadership Team to set direction and collaborate effectively across account
  • Creating and sustaining strong collaboration and integration with agency leaders
  • Partners with teams across multiple offices that provides high-quality integrated communications services.





Minimum/Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years leading a large region, practice or sector area or multiple small to medium-size regions, practices or sector areas
  • Experience managing and growing revenues exceeding $5M
  • Experience in leading and managing teams. Demonstrated collaborator
  • At least 10 years’ experience in communications or related area of expertise or practice/sector area expertise. Recognized thought leader. Exudes passion.
  • Strong operational acumen skills and expertise, including demonstrated ability to drive sales and new business.
  • Consistently demonstrates systemic thinking outside the parameters of their own regional area. Prioritizes agency goals in their actions, their communications and in their decision-making as a leader. Represents agency point of view to their team(s) and models a global mindset in every strategic action. Results accomplished are broad across multiple teams, and speak to a deep commitment to leadership across agency.
  • Refined understanding of the integration of marketing, creative, account planning, media, technology and supporting customer analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow existing client relationships.
  • Superb intellectual and strategic capabilities and a strong communication style that conveys expertise and confidence.
  • In-depth communication and written skills.
  • Strong analytic and strategic abilities that leverage one’s innate curiosity.
