 Who we are looking for

We’re looking for an Account Executive in Sydney with experience in corporate communications and an understanding of investor relations.  The position will support an experienced and collaborative team to plan and implement investor and corporate communication strategies . As an Account Executive you will have a thirst to learn, a curious mind, a genuine interest in investor communications, and a meticulous eye for detail.

In addition, you should be a dynamic self-starter with a nose for news and active interest in financial and corporate communication.

The position

This position will work closely with managers and directors to support corporate communication, investor and media relations for private and ASX-listed companies.

A day in the life of this position could include: investor presentations, events management, annual report production, website management, ASX-listings, financial communication and ASX reporting.

You will:

  • Help keep the team up to date with the latest news across mainstream;
  • Work across a diverse and interesting range of sectors including biotech, financial services, healthcare and tech/innovation;
  • Maintain the everyday running of client accounts and engaging with clients;
  • Speaking directly with stakeholders and help them to communicate their unique stories and opinions through earned (media) and owned (social, website, EDM) channels;  
  • Support the development of communication materials including media materials, ASX announcements, briefing documents, research reports, pitch points and case study write ups;
  • Be the primary contact for media related enquiries and build on existing relationships with media.

 

Core Capabilities include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field is preferred, or the equivalent knowledge and/or experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in PR and or IR, preferably in an agency setting and/or within corporate/financial services.
  • Experience with written and developed materials, including media releases, financial communication for listed companies, pitches, and social media content highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (particularly Outlook, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Strong analytical writing skills.

What you'll be doing at WE

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Maintenance and growth of relationships with key influencers in both corporate and investor media and social media;
  • Identifying modern communication trends and educate/inform clients and agency colleagues and partners on changes and trends;
  • Maintaining the everyday running of client accounts and engaging with clients and investors;
  • Speaking directly with stakeholders and help them to communicate their unique stories and opinions through earned (media) and owned (social, website, EDM) channels; 
  • Supporting the development of communication materials including press materials, ASX announcements, financial results, briefing documents, annual reports, pitches and case study write ups;
  • Be the primary contact for media related enquiries, proactive media pitching and build on existing relationships with media;
  • Monitor, report and provide insight on competitor and sector-specific news and social media activities, unique and creative uses campaigns or emerging culture themes;
  • Model agency values, mentor and coach colleagues and junior staff on agency “best practices” and successful engagement with your influencers;
  • Reinforce consistent adherence to media management processes: media lists, coverage monitoring and industry coverage trends.

 

What you've been able to accomplish

Key Selection Criteria:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English or related field is preferred, or the equivalent knowledge and/or experience.
  2. 1-2 years of experience in PR and or IR, preferably in an agency setting and/or within corporate/financial services.
  3. Strong analytical writing skills.
  4. Experience with written and developed materials, including media releases, financial communication for listed companies, pitches, and social media content highly desirable.
  5. Comfortable with integrated communication principles.
  6. Understand the role of the media.
  7. Interest in investor relations.
  8. Interest in developing integrated communications skills incorporating digital and social media.
  9. High level of initiative.
  10. Desire to be an engaged, accessible member of a dynamic office and broader global agency community.
  11. Client and business environment: Customer service orientation is a must. Job pressure may exist from requirement of handling multiple tasks.
  12. Experience working globally or with colleagues in multiple locations
  13. Fast-paced team environment (frequent tight deadlines, multitasking, etc.)
  14. Strong presentation and consulting skills along with the ability to read, write and speak English.

Essential Requirements:

  • High level information technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (particularly Outlook, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Eligibility to work in Australia.
