About Us: Codeword is an agency of creative problem solvers who believe marketing doesn’t have to suck.    We are a fast-growing, fast-moving team of writers, editors, designers, strategists, videographers, PR mavens, and even a few traditional marketers. We have an incredible roster of big and small tech clients for whom we manage editorial and social channels, develop smart marketing strategies, drive news coverage, and create big ideas.   Codeword is a remote-first agency, though we have physical offices in NYC, SF, and SLC that we won’t make you visit.   About This Role:  This Strategist will report to Strategy Director Ellen Chan and will be responsible for developing integrated strategies across email, social, and influencer marketing. You’ll be working alongside a great team of writers and designers, mocking up content matrixes, reviewing copy, and concepting ideas for both email and social media initiatives.    Unlike most agencies, we don’t have a hard line between our creatives and strategists, and we pride ourselves on our ability to execute in a wide range of marketing disciplines. So if you like to mix it up, great! With email being a large component of the role, if you’re a pro (or at least proficient) with CRM tools such as Salesforce and Marketo, that is a huge plus!    You should know how to develop data-driven insights, and have extensive knowledge of the latest marketing trends and performance. The role demands an effective communicator, who’s just as comfortable training clients on the latest email wins and social media haps, as advising the team on email best practices. Whether it’s sitting in rooms with senior tech executives or creating a compelling, smart strategy deck—you’ve got it handled.    About You:  - 4-7 years of experience  - Email and CRM experience a very big plus - Knows how to talk, how to write, how to deck  - Comfortable with analytics and developing recommendations based on data - Familiar with the mechanics of social, including how the algorithms work  - A digital culture enthusiast in touch with trending tech topics (“Very Online”)   What You’ll Be Doing: - Develop email, social, and content strategies to help the client meet their goals. This includes leveraging email best practices (such as send times and segmentation), paid/owned/earned planning, content strategy, and measurement.     - Work closely with the Insights & Analytics team to understand performance metrics and unearth insights. In collaboration with the Insights & Analytics leads, assess KPIs and benchmarks, develop insights and test roadmaps.    - Prepare content decks, reports, business reviews, reporting, and annual presentations for clients.   - Lead or participate in brainstorms to shape content plans.   - Develop briefs and provide guidance for all things email and social; you have range and you’re excited about experimentation.   - Collaborate with team members to build creative concepts and campaigns in order to fulfill client business goals.    - Guide the content creation process by determining the best course of action to complete a deliverable.   - Providing proactive creative inspiration and curation of relevant industry news, case studies and best practices to team members and clients   - Stay up to date on email and social media trends, regularly sharing examples of things you’re seeing (to make us lol, any cringe you see, and also things that we can implement in our own work).     - Maintain a unique voice and tone for each of our clients, based on their brand guidelines and audience.   Your Compensation: People –  that's you! – are the heart of our business, and we believe in pay transparency. Our budget for this role is $70K-$89K, depending on experience.   Your Benefits: - Flexible work hours - Minimum 20 days paid vacation annually - 401k + financial wellness support - Health Insurance (medical, dental, life, pet, mental health services)  - Home office allowance - Bi-annual Wellness Credits - Monthly Technology Credit (to offset internet / phone costs) - Every role is bonus eligible   - Comprehensive Parental Leave Policy   A few more things you should know about Codeword: - The Codeword dream: Make good money doing work you care about with people you like.    - We love our clients (they write the checks!), which means maintaining a high bar for the creativity, smarts, responsiveness, and communication skills we offer them.    - We’re around 100 people, big enough to handle large-scale marketing programs, small enough that you’ll have an impact on our culture.    - We’re a friendly team, we look after each other, and we grow our careers together.    - We respect everyone’s personal life. After-hours emails are strongly frowned upon, night and weekend work is very rare, and employees are encouraged to pursue their side-hustles.    - We’re all grownups here, and we trust each other to get the work done, whether at home or in an office or a time zone on the other side of the world.    - We believe in defaulting to openness. Our calendars, our salary tiers, and our doors are open for all to see. (Except for secret client stuff, which we guard with our lives.)    - We’re a proud member of the global WE Communications family.   Equal Opportunity: Codeword provides equal employment opportunity and doesn’t discriminate against employees or applicants because of age, race, color, religion, gender, national origin, veteran status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, or other legally protected class status. Diversity and Inclusion: Codeword works hard to foster a diverse team and an inclusive workplace where everyone thrives.   We aren’t a traditional agency, so we like to hire people who don’t necessarily fit the agency mold or check all the “right” boxes.
